Spaghetti and Meatballs

Spaghetti and meatballs is a classic and all time favourite with kids! It can keep them occupied for ages making these meatballs and the results will be amazing!

Ingredients

  • 500g Beef Mince
  • 1 Onion
  • 100g Cream Crackers
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 3 Tsp Mixed Dried Herbs e.g. Basil, Oregano, Rosemary
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 2 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • 300g Spaghetti
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Cooking Oil

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C/190C Fan.
  2. Put the crackers into a large bowl and use a rolling pin to break into large crumbs.
  3. Add the mincemeat, herbs, salt and pepper and the egg to the bowl.
  4. Use your hands to combine and roll the mixture into about 20 small meatballs. Place them onto a lined baking tray and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Put a large pan of salted water on the heat and leave to boil.
  6. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Heat a splash of oil in a large frying pan and add the onion. Stir until it begins to soften. Add a little water to help soften quicker.
  7. Add the garlic and stir for 30 seconds, don’t let it brown as it will become bitter. Add the tinned tomatoes, bring to the boil and season with salt and pepper. Allow to reduce (thicken) slightly, taste and adjust the seasoning and then stir in your cooked meatballs.
  8. Add the spaghetti to your boiling water and cook until it is soft (check pack instructions). Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking.
  9. Serve the spaghetti with the meatballs and sauce on top.
