These deliciously soft, sweet, “melt in your mouth” cookies take just 10 minutes to prepare, 10 minutes to bake and if you’re not careful, they’ll have disappeared in 10 minutes also! Try alternatives to chocolate chips such as smarties, raisins, mini marshmallows etc. Be creative!
Ingredients
- 100g Butter/ Margarine/ Vegetable Spread
- 100g Light Brown Sugar/ Golden Caster Sugar/ Caster Sugar/ Muscovado Sugar/ Dark Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Golden Syrup/ Maple Syrup/ Agave Syrup/ Honey/ Coconut Syrup/ Date Syrup
- 150g Self-Raising Flour/ Plain Flour + 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder/ Wholewheat flour + 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder/ Gluten Free Self Raising Flour/ GF Plain Flour with 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
- 50g Chocolate Chips/ Chocolate Chunks/ Raisins/ Glace Cherries/ Mixed Peel/ Nuts/ Smarties/ Mini Marshmallows/ Mini Eggs
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180c.
- Mix together the butter and sugar using a wooden spoon. Stir in the syrup, then sift in the flour and stir until it starts to come together. Use your hands to bring together as a soft dough.
- Roll the dough into 10 equal balls or 20 small balls for smaller cookies and place on a baking sheet about 1-2 inches apart.
- Press a few of ypur chosen ingredients into the top of each cookie, without flattening them too much.
- Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes – smaller cookies will take less time than larger cookies.
- Remove from the oven and leave to cool and firm up (when you remove them they will be soft) for about 5 minutes before enjoying.
